What is Eyebrow & Eyelash Tinting?
Have you ever dreamed of thicker, face-framing brows or dark and luscious lashes? Or maybe you’re tired of spending time filling in your eyebrows and applying mascara every morning. No matter the reason, lash and brow tinting can shorten your morning routine and give you an extra boost of confidence to take on the day!
The Process
Before any dye is used, your esthetician will discuss your options. Depending on your hair, skin and eye color, as well as your desired outcome, your esthetician will help you choose the right dye color.
For the brows, the dye is applied directly onto eyebrows and sits for a couple minutes until the color has taken effect.
Tinting the eyelashes involves a few more steps, but is still pretty simple. Before dyeing, a protective eye pad is applied to protect the skin, and you will need to keep your eyes closed for the entire process. Similarly to brow tinting, the dye is brushed onto lashes and is left to process for a few minutes before wiping off any excess product and removing the eye pad.
How Long Does It Last?
Most eyebrow and eyelash tints will last between four to six weeks with the dye subtly fading until your lashes and brows return to their natural color. Proper aftercare treatment can help make the results last longer:
- Wear a hat and/or sunglasses in the sun. Strong sunlight/UV light can make the tint color fade faster.
- Avoid cleansers with AHA’s or other chemical exfoliates may decrease the life of your tint. A gentle, oil-free facial cleanser or eye makeup remover is recommended.
Is It Safe?
You may have heard that the FDA issued an alert on dyes used around the eyes, causing certain states, like California, to ban the practice altogether. At Adonia Med Spa, we only use the safest products and treatments, which is why we only use vegan-based dyes with all-natural ingredients and no coal, tar or other prohibited materials.
