The tumescent technique for local anesthesia involves the injection of large volumes of very dilute lidocaine (local anesthetic) and epinephrine (drug that shrinks capillaries) into subcutaneous fat. We tell patients from the time you walk to walk is 4-6 hours. This includes reviewing paperwork, take oral medications, pictures and marking of procedure. Then we walk to the procedure room, infiltration of numbing solution, remove fat (transfer fat), final approval by you, compression garment and ready to go home.
